    Default Weather and water conditions

Just wondering y’all’s thoughts on what all this rain has done to the fish? I assume this rain and lower temperatures will cool the water down significantly. Water levels are super high and muddy. You think they pull back out because of lower temperatures or follow the high water up? I was just wanting to know what others have seen in the past with these conditions. Thanks.

Water up ! Fish move up !
    water down fish scatter!
sure if it’s real cold at night they may drop out a little deeper but as soon as the sun is up they will head back to the fast warming shallow high water !

My concern is they spawn in the high water and then we lose a year class of fish when the water drops

I'm not as educated on crappie movements as most of you here, but I can say with certainty that last year in bank areas I found that were productive most of March have not produced a single fish this year. Water is ridiculously high and muddy, plus it's been colder than it was last year it seems like.

I agree. I’ve worked my tail off in kayak this year and caught way more from the bank last year. I’m thinking I like fall fishing better than spring.

I've always liked fall fishing best, but have caught plenty when I've had time to get on the water. Work just keeps getting in the way, LOL!

It really depends on the lake and how far the fish are along. Neely Henry should be fine. A week or 2 ago I was there and it wasn't even close to spawn. Can't say about other lakes affected by the higher levels.
I remember one year on Neely Henry they pulled the bottom out after the spawn and I caught my limit in a hour and a half because there wasn't much for the fish to be on. Hit a few laytdowns and I was done!
