Good report ! They are up more than you would think ! Bass guys on smith have been fishing shallow and report seeing quite a few crappie !
Took my 12 Year old son crappie fishing Friday night. Went and fished some boat houses on Smith around lights. Caught a dozen or so on jigs. Didn't stay too long or too late. Was really excited to fish Saturday. Hit a different lake with high expectations. Got out there around 2:30. Water temp 61. Went to many of my spots. Found fish in 5-7 feet of water. Couldn't get them to bite. Caught just a couple and called it an early afternoon. I am sitting here debating on trying it again today. I think the warm weather has me fooled. Dog woods haven't bloomed and I haven't seen a snake yet. 2 more weeks??? I don't know.

Too blessed to be stressed!
Saw crappie on the bed in 4-8 FOW yesterday. They wanted nothing to do with anything I threw at them. From all the beds I could see, it's a strong spawn this week.
Good news/bad news - The lake is about to come up from the rain this week and will cool down some. I'm guessing in about to weeks the shallows will be covered with spawning Crappie. I'm finding lots shallow, but seems to be prespawn fish, they may be fanning a few beds, but they'll probably push back off with the cool down.

Great Report, I love those smith lake crappie!
Well, I did end up going. Crappie fished hard for two hours. Nothing. Switched gears and caught some tank bass. Switched back to crappie and caught an 8" right before dark. I am starting to wonder if the extra corona pressure last year had effected this year's spawn. I will keep trying and send updates.
