Fished one of the Guntersville bridges for a hour or so yesterday but never could get them to bite. I saw them on the depth finder but with the boats and wind I had trouble holding position in the kayak and did not do any good. The guys I saw fishing around me were all catching shorts. I ended up moving out of the wind and green carp fishing. Water was 54 around the bridge....going towards the State Park.

Caught 5 at limestone. Caught them right off the bat and thought I was gonna have a good day. Then nothing.

Yesterday caught 50+ had 27 keepers on cedar creek casting. Today had 42 in limestone had 29 keepers trolling. Had to hit the trailer at 12. Wife had a wedding shower to attend at 2. Then my son has a birthday party to go to from one of his Pre-K friends from 3-5. Was 2 good days on the water. Maybe tomorrow will be just as good.

Just to comment on kind of frustration due to what we call joy riders which have all the right to the water as we do. These days and times after Covid and all that stimulus money to folks. All kinds of toys have been purchased for water entertainment and land. Most folks over the years have stopped using what I was raised on water etiquette meaning you see someone fishing you slow down and don’t blow them out of the water or on top of their fish they have worked to find. We saw that start deteriorating in the early to mid 80’s with I hate to say it bass tournament fisherman. Then as jet skis started getting popular it got worse. Back in those days we also had lakes designated for skiing and such as that. For the most part fisherman stayed off those lakes unless fishing at night. These days with all the people on the water the boating manual for getting boaters license needs a section for boaters etiquette and it should be enforced to all on the water. But it would be no different than out roads and highways. Not enough law enforcement. Now I have a son that I raised with that same etiquette that I was raised with and I taught him when a river or lake system is large enough to move far enough away that you don’t rock someone’s boat keep it wide open if that’s your desire. But if you’re close enough to rock their boat or vessel make it a no wake area. Let them enjoy their day out fishing. I recall a time back in the 90’s me and my father in law were fishing and a jet ski came in a very small canal we were fishing only wide enough for about a boat and a half wide. The kid ran under our bream busters. My father in law want to go after him and whip him for doing something so stupid. If your in a kayak man be careful as me and my wife do that to. Jet skis and boats will sink you. The best thing we as crappie fisherman can do during heavy times of traffic on our lakes and water ways we fish on, is fish at night or late evening early night. I have found the crappie tend to bite better then any way. It’s the new age we find ourselves living in. Good luck and be safe.

I think that's why I learned to catch Crappie in only a few feet of water in the backwaters, creeks and sloughs. I hate water fleas!
