    Default Rod transport rack

What’s everyone using? I’m a DIY person, I hate spending money on something I can build. Got a plan in my head. 2 stands that will attach to the versa track rail in my boat with 2 rows of 8. I have 16-16ft rods. I normally just pile them in the floor, but want to do something deferent. If you have something you like take a picture and post it on here so maybe I can mesh a few different styles together and make mine.

I installed "rivnuts" or "threadcerts" into the rails of my boat. The threaded knobs hold very well and when removed, the boat still looks great. I cut epdm? on a cnc to hold the rods. I need to redesign that a bit, my plan was to stagger the pole front to back and back to front but thats not only a PITA, but not very secure.
I had to put the rack high enough to clear my windshield and throttle. The other side of my boat is a full length bench so it needed to be the driver side, but I might re think that since I don't need to seat so many when I'm rigging.
    I have 12ft rods cause they're cheap, but I could go longer.Name: 20200301_152357.jpg

I might do vertical racks rather than the horizontal next time. My thinking was its easier to see through the horizontal. But those extra inches on the outside of the boat matter when I'm in docks, my boat is 8ft wide.

That looks good, I appreciate the pictures. In my Head I’m going to use square tubing and make an “F” with it, then put solid round bar about an inch long sticking up on the horizontal pieces to separate the rods. It will be trial and error, just going to modify it until I get it like I want it. I want the bottom row of rods to just barely clear the deck with the reels and then the top row of rods reels to barely clear the bottom row by an inch or so. I want it to be as low of a profile as possible. I’m going to Mount it to my versa track system for easy on and off when I’m not trolling.

I have the millennium transport rack and I’m very pleased with it, I actually bought it used as a package deal from a member on here and would recommend it.

They are super nice, but from what I’ve seen only hold 8 rods, maybe 10. I need to be able to hold 16. Also I can’t make myself pay 150-200 dollars for something I can build for 30-40 bucks plus my time. I enjoy working on projects for my boat. If I can find the metal laying around all I will have is time in them. I’m cheap. If I could build rods, reels, trolling motors, and graphs I would be in business lol. Since I can’t I have to buy that stuff.

Ahh if only the millennium racks were that cheap. I want one badly, but not $300 bad.
I like building my own mods too.

Well you saw above what I came up with.
Those cutting boards are nice though. Ikea has a good selection of them too.

My Millennium transport was hand made by Gene. It's a simple concept and could definitely be copied. There is nothing that says you could not add another 8 hooks on the other side. While you at it I would consider making 3 those 16's will flex.
