Nice fish. I also fish the Delta even though I haven’t gotten to go in last three weeks. But I fish Cliff’s Landing, Live Oak, Hubbard’s. Have caught some nice ones right there in Stiggins. But figuring out water can be a task in itself. I will try to post more as well.

My son and I are trying to learn to crappie fish . We went this morning and launched at Cliffs Landing but got skunked . Not spider rigging just single lines with minnows . Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I guess my first question would be have you fished the delta much?
If not it can be frustrating with the ever changing water along with the tide conditions. Understanding these crappie are in the pre spawn and spawning mode. Some are already in full swing spawn. They tend to hold in 2 to 3 foot of water and they tend to get more in the shallow still areas when they are in this mode.
This week the water just came down out of the woods so things will get more productive. They are not going to spray their eggs where the water will fall out and eggs dry out on limbs. Keep that in mind. I also noticed you said you used single poles. I never go without trying jigs as well. I find what they are hungry for that day. I personally went just across the Mississippi line a week ago and did very well but the females eggs were still about two weeks out and the water temperatures started at 61 degrees but got up to 65 degrees. They were more aggressive in 65 degree water.
The smaller one was only 10” that got gills cut by the hook but the average was 13.5” and most ran about 15.5” that we kept for meal. We probably caught some 35 or 40.

    Default Not often enough

We don’t fish the delta much but try to get there when we can . I have never had any luck with jigs but I am also still new to this . Where did you fish on the state line . We live in Grand Bay so that is probably very close to the house . Could get more fishing done if I could cut out my drive time . Any info would be appreciated

From Grandbay to the river delta is a pretty good drive.
