I went to a new bait shop last week and they asked which I wanted. I’ve never been to one that had shiners. I may try some tomorrow.

I have used shiners for many years. I like them better. Some folks have trouble keeping them alive but I do pretty good with them. Name: IMG_0799.jpg

I can promise you they will prefer one over the other depending on what's going on.

When I was a kid I was fishing below the dam one night and wasn't catching much but a guy next to me was just killing the them. When he left he give use his minnows and we started catching them. I don't remember whitch one's he had because that was years ago but it makes a difference for sure. I can recall many other times this happened to.

I liked the smaller tuffies in winter and summer but spring i seemed to do better on shiners. Shiners really do better right after the spawn when they want a bigger meal. Your mileage may vary

Well I tried both. Didn’t catch any crappie. But I’d say bass like shiners better. Caught 12 and all on shiners. All around 2 pounds. They were fun to catch anyway.

Yeah I wanted to try tight lining them down there since I can’t spider rig jigs yet. Caught a few last week about 50/50 jigs and minnows.

When I get minners, I always get them from Mr. Weaver in Hartselle across from Lowes and I get tuffies and shiners. Somedays it doesnt matter, but somedays it does.
