Looks pretty close to me... not tomorrow or anything though. I’ve only fished down that way once in my life and it wasn’t as far south as you are it was in demopolis area. I hunt demopolis area a good bit and talking to the locals they say late February it’s on.... you might be to late in the March/April time frame for spawn.

Thanks I have been doing this a long time meaning fresh water fishing. But I have to admit this area down here has been my hardest to figure out even for blue gill and shell crackers. But my first love for fishing is those elusive crappie. I do alright when I fish Millers Ferry and north as they bite somewhat like they do in Mississippi where I am from. Just don’t get the size here I get back home.

Bad cold snap...water dips back in the fourties....that ole girl will consume them internally for fuel. But specks do spawn ahead of whites. IMHO

CatchNGrease that makes more sense than anything. But this water down here rarely gets in the 40’s and stays for any period of time. It mainly ranges in the low to mid 50’s in our mild winters. It was 48 yesterday when I caught them and her. I have done a poor job over the years of learning about their actual makeup the way the Good Lord made them. And spent all my time figuring out how, what, and why they eat and where they hang out at different times of the year. But thanks for the information.

I use to live in coastal Georgia, Crappie were on the beds in late Feb or early March depending on temperatures. Water typically only go into the 50's in winter and a week of sunny days would bring the shallows into the 60's.

IMO, even in south AL, you're at least a month away from the start of the spawn.
