    Default Bad day

Went to limestone last Saturday. Fished from 8 till 1. 2 small crappie and bunches of small gills. Had promised my wife Iíd be home early to help her with some things. Got back and got everything loaded and couldnít find my truck key. I stopped under the bridge and got a dip so thought I might have lost them then. Waded out there and was looking around and hit a slick spot and was down from knock down. Still had my PFD on and had my phone in it. Dead. Had to walk soaking we to greenbrier to the store and call someone to come get me. Then call my wife to bring the extra key. She wasnít happy. Lol. Went back after work yesterday with a magnet and sift net. Looked all the places I could think of. Gave up with a few minutes of light left and fished about 40 minutes. Caught 5 keepers and several
small ones. 2 of them were over 13 inches. Caught on a chartreuse slider about 2 feet under a float. Wish I had started fishing earlier.

Happens to all of us at some point. Couple weeks ago I loaded everything and started pulling away and heard a scratching sound on the side of my truck. I figured a tree branch was giving me some more forest pen striping, but decided to stop and look. Glad I did, pulled away with my four poles still leaning against my truck.

... I never bring on lake/hike/golf course, etc.

Everyone says Iím crazy but I never take the keys out of my truck. But thereís a lot of people in and out back there. Some who may not have the best intentions. I left my pistol because I didnít want to chance dropping it in or anything. So I locked it.

Almost forgot. But wanted to let you know. If you are facing the creek there are nails everywhere over to the left close to the trees. I brought the magnet through there and found them all the way from the creek to where it flattens out. Would sure ruin a tire if you happened to get over in them.

I lock my truck, keys in my front pocket. Pistol always goes with me. Not worried about the wildlife while I'm fishing, but sometimes get back to my truck to find some shady folks hanging around. Never looking for a confrontation, but always want to be prepared.

Agreed. I was down there a couple years ago and was sitting in my car getting things together to walk back to the gravel pit. A guy walked up and had his face right against the passenger window. I looked and he walked all the way around the car looking in. I got my pistol and just stepped out of the car. He saw it and started backing up. He said I just thought you might be looking for the ďspecial spot ď and I was gonna let you know you found it. I said I donít swing that way. Iím just here to fish and you best leave my car and stuff alone while Iím gone. He said ok and went and got in his car and left. So Iíve always tried to be careful down there.
