We've caught way more fish than 24 in a day before and we've caught way more than 24 keepers in a day before, but we've never caught 24 fish in a day casting jigs on a single pole. You can find structure all day long on Guntersville but it's hard and rare to find the structure loaded with crappie. These fish stay in the grass most of the time and there's 1000's of acres of grass. It's not a find the right submerged tree and catch a limit of crappie lake. I honestly think if I ever get to the point of consistently catching them here, casting and reeling a jig, that I can go anywhere and catch them. I don't mean that to sound arrogant, this is just a tough lake to single pole. I enjoy casting a reeling so much more than multiple pole fishing. I could catch many more fish spider rigging stumps in creek channels but it's just not my favorite way to fish. I don't mean to sound for a second like I'm dissing spider rigging or long lining, because I do both from time to time, I just prefer to cast and reel. I guess that's the old bass fisherman coming out in me.
I’m the same. I’ve considered setting my yak up to spider rig. But I’d rather cast. Plus I don’t think I’m coordinated enough to pull it off in such a small space on a yak. I remember we started on here about the same time. I was just starting too. I’ve got a long way to go but it makes you feel good to do good. There’s sure some great folks on here that are more than glad to help newbies out. Just hope I can get good enough someday to pay it forward. Sorry for the long comment. Lol

Nothing wrong with 9 Keepers That will eat.
I don't care how I catch em. I just like being on the lake and if I can come home with a meal or 3, then I feel like I was being a productive provider
I have a lake near me. I can leave my house and be on the water in 10 minutes if I wait in line at the ramp. Its a small lake with tremendous pressure, for all species, and the crappie are smaller. I finally started driving about an hour+ south to a large stumpy lake. Actually catching fi$h takes the $ting outta buying tackle and bait. I grew up at Lake of the Ozarks and not really catching much (boats on lifts, not trailers), and hitting the local lakes in the city. The hardest lesson for me was; Go where the fish are.
By the sounds of things though, if you can catch em on your lake you'll slay em anywhere else.

Great job, I went weeks without catching a Crappie when I started chasing them. Two dozen is a great day!

I’m excited that you guys are figuring them out. But, I’m even more excited that you get to spend quality time with your son. That’s a blessing for sure. This was a very encouraging post. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah those are some good looking fish. That's a very respecting looking young màn there as well. Sounds to me like you've learned that if you don't catch fish Go back to basics and keep looking.
