Default Kayak Trip Report, Limestone Bay/Creek

I fished Limestone after work today, the Crappie were on fire. Single pole on isolated cover with a 1/32oz White Marabou jig and casting the banks with a 1/64oz spinner with a 1" slider jig. I kept half a limit and returned at least that many again that were over 12". Little bitty ones were everywhere, I must have returned 5 or 6 dozen that were under 9 inches. Next year should be unbelievable with all the 6 to 8 inch Crappie I'm tossing back. I even got to see my fishing buddy again. He surfaced after I'd been fishing one of the pits for about 20 minutes. Just popped up about 150 feet away. Wished I had a better camera on my old cell phone, LOL.

I know exactly where that is. That’s the one I fished all the time from the bank that I always said I never saw a gator in. Lol. But I always told myself that they were there.

This is a different pit from a couple weeks ago so he moves around. I never see him over the winter, so I'm guessing he moves to one of the smaller pits that's not connect to the creek.

Again, I wouldn't want to get too close when the water is over 80 degrees, but not much to worry about this time of year.

Ive seen multiple gators at once in one of those pits that were both large...usually in april pit with the low water dry hump in it....also used to walk in from pryor road and would pass a pit that wasnt connected but had gator tracks and what looked to be a den with a worn aproach to it...

    riverboss,

I've seen one about 7 feet in the pit your talking about during the spring, but this is the first time I've seen this big boy. I hear about him all the time, but usually only fish Limestone from late OCT till MAR or April so hadn't ran across him until this year.
