Default Kayak Trip Report, Barron Fork

I fished Barron Fork off Zierdt Rd yesterday from 9AM till about 5PM. I caught dozens of Crappie casting a 1/64oz spinner with a 1" slider, but only four into the cooler with three more over 12 inches returned. Fun day catching small Crappie, Gills and bass every where, just few to keep. The water was 58 degrees at 9AM and had warmed to 60 degrees by the time I left. The water above the bridge is extremely clear, but a hundred yards below the carp and buffalo are still keeping it muddied up. Barron Fork is about 2 feet low so another half foot and the fishing in that area will be done until the water comes back up in spring.

Were you in a blue kayak? I fished indian creek and paddled up the fork at one point. I saw another yakker out there, but I couldn't tell if he was fishing. But, I don't have much faith in that shallow water, so I turned around and went back to the main creek and fished. I didn't catch much until right before I left. I got into a school of 8 inchers which at least made me feel like a few crappie exist.
