Default Kayak Trip Report, Barron Fork

Damion Kidd asked about areas to fish around Madison and I told him to try Barron Fork. After I got to thinking about it, I hadn't fished Barron Fork in a couple months so I decided to give it a try today. I fished from 6:30AM till about 2PM keeping half a limit. I returned five larger Crappie and about two dozen short fish. Half were caught casting a 1" slider and the other half singe pole jigging isolated brush. The fish were in three to four feet of water and the temperature was 78 at daylight and warming to 85 by the afternoon. Visibility was good (for Barron Fork), around 10 to 12 inches.

I tried for gills and found many, including several small bass, but nothing large enough to clean. I'll post a picture after I clean them a little before dark.

Miss counted, thought I started tossing back fish that would measure after I had 15 in the cooler, but ended up cleaning 16. Beautiful day, mostly cloudy, light winds and the fish were biting. Can't ask for much better in late August!
