Default Kayak Trip Report, Moulton New City Lake

I tried something new today fishing deep weed edges with a 1" slider on a 1/32oz jig head. I only caught a half dozen Crappie that would measure, but kept 37 gills and shellcrackers that were 9" or over. The weeds ended in 18 to 20 feet of water and the fish seemed to be hugging the bottom on the edge. It took lots of patience, but a Bull Gill 20 feet deep on 4 pound line sure is fun! Also caught two dozen bass up to about 2 pounds.

The water was 84 degrees at 7AM and had warmed to 86 by 2PM. Visibility of about 4 feet. No pics, phone was dead when I got home.
Thanks chuckster thanked you for this post

Great job especially fishing that deep. You have some real patience getting that 1/32 jig down that deep.

Another fabulous trip all the better in a kayak. I haven't caught that many in 5 trips.
