Default Family trip to Ft. Morgan

We have a place rented at Ft.Morgan the first week of August. I am not a beach person, but the rest of the family is. I am wondering if there are places to fresh water fish in the area? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Don’t know about fresh water fishing there, but you are in a surf fishing holy land!! Maybe consider that???

Look up Shelby Lakes. I've never fished it, but always wanted to give it a try. Freshwater so bass and gills, but also has reds and trout.

Shelby would be the only close by fresh water from Fort Morgan. I haven't fished there in years but never did any good when I did.

May not be your thing, but I guarantee if you took an inexpensive spinning combo and a few hooks and sinkers with some Fishbites you’d have some fun fishing right on the beach.
Or golf may be fun too. Just not my thing lol

Yeah I'd try surf fishing as well. And if you decide to try it, look at the local tackle shops as they may have some Penn reels on sale. Penn just released updated models so the old ones may be discounted already. I just got a Battle II (Battle III was just released though ) and plan to use it for catfish and stripe as well as on beach trips.

Not sure about the out of state license but I always get a 7 day when you get down there go by J&M Tackle and tell them your from out of town and you want to do some surf fishing out by FT. Morgan and they will tell you and show you what you need and how to rig it up and it's very inexpensive. We do it every time we go my wife caught a small shark the last time we went but we always catch fish you just never know what kind or how big they will be but it's a load of fun.

$35 or so for 7 day non-resident. About $55 for annual nonresident. Depends on how many times a year I’m coming down on which I buy
