Default Kayak Trip Report, Madison County Lake

I returned to Madison County Lake today, kept 22 Crappie. Slower day and the wind made it difficult, but beautiful weather. I tried heavier jigs, but it changed the presentation. All came of a 1" slider on a 1/32oz jig head fished 12 to 15 feet deep. The water was 83 degrees with visibility of about 18 inches. I pulled a couple shellcrackers from brush piles, but all gills were tiny (4 to 6 inches).

Bob D, you need to get to Madison County Lake, half of the Crappie are 12 to 13 inches, the year class behind are all about 10 and there thick.

DB, I would LOVE to meet you out there and learn how to fish that lake! I don’t have a depth finder on my kayak, so I am fishing blindly.....couple that with still trying to figure out what baits to use when, and I get pretty discouraged! I don’t keep any myself, just like it for the sport (and I don’t like to clean fish haha).
