Default Vintage Reels and Panfish Rod

Recently received some of my grandfather’s old Zebco spincasters and a panfish rod/reel and spent time yesterday and this morning cleaning them up, greasing them, and getting them back to working shape. I thought I’d share with y’all. They look and work a whole lot better than I expected after being in outside storage for many years without use. Lots of memories of fishing with my Papaw in these old reels. I hope I can get many more years of use out of them. Name: IMG_0524.jpg

Zebco was 100× better from the 80s back. The delta and omega are as good as the old reels but they are pricey delta around 60$ omega about 90$

I like the old ones , I use them for crappie , and trout , when I was 15 I landed a 17 lb carp on one , I have several of the old black reels and some of the #11 and the #22 , sill use them.

I grew up using the Zebco 33 couldn't beat it when it was all metal the Zebco 1 was just starting to come n use when I got introduced to the Zebco cardinal 3 and 4 spinning reels that were made exclusivly in Sweden for Zebco. They were made in the mid to late to late 70's. I have used nothing since. Once Zebco sold the rights to Garcia, they took them over and cheapened them up by changing them to graphite and make them here so they would wear out. As I said earlier I still use the original cardinal 3 and especially the cardinal 4 for all my crappie and gill fishing, thanks goodness for E-Bay!!! I have several in storage but have never had to use them and I have 2 that I use for parts if one ever breaks down. the plastic spools like to crack are the worst thing about them but I found a place that machined aluminum spools so I don't have that problem any more. The 2 I use the most my dad got me for my birth day way back in the 1970's
