Default Kayak Trip Report, Ditto Landing

I made a short trip to Ditto after work today, fishing from 3PM till about 7PM. Great short trip, kept half a limit of huge gills and 6 Crappie. I returned probably a couple hundred smaller gills and 15 to 20 little Crappie that were between 4" to 6". I also returned 4 Crappie that were over 12". Fish were scattered and caught casting a 1" slider on a 1/32oz jig head fished slow and deep.

Ditto is clear with visibility of about 18" and the water was down to normal summer levels.

Not sure what it is about those 1" sliders, but the gills and Crappie both love them.

DB you definitely have the gills dialed in. I appreciate your reports and pics.

Is Aldridge creek considered part of Ditto or does Aldridge Creek stand on its own as a destination?

Years ago there was a dirt road that went under the Parkway and dead ended at a swampy area. I think I saw a gate blocking that road today when I drove thru Ditto Landing. Can you get to that back water and if so does the area have a name? It has been 25 yrs or more since I was back in there. Still remember the stringer of crappie a guy in a small flat bottom boat carried out of there one day when I was fishing with no luck from the bank. Not sure I would eat anything from that area but I wouldn’t mind catching them.

These came from the back slough that connects to the boat harbor. I usually fish Aldridge Creek a couple times a year also.

There are some old barrow pits west of Ditto on land owned by the City of Huntsville. Game Warden told me the City Attorney want anyone found in the area charged with trespassing. I haven't been back. It's loaded with Crappie and huge gills.
