Default Any bluegill or shellcracker beds

Just curious, has anyone has seen any beds yet? The full moon is the 7th and they usually start bedding about a week before the full moon. At least that is what i have heard. Have the crappie spawned yet in north AL ? Thanks.

I saw some blue gill beds last full moon, hopefully this one will be better. I am not sure if the crappie have spawned or not, looks like the bass are spawning right now.

The crappie in the big G have spawned out, except for the smaller ones. Some of the girls still have about half their eggs in them so they didn't use them all. .The eggs I have seen in a few are the pale color now not the bright yellow with blood of live eggs.Hopefully they had a good spawn . The high water might have messed with them a bit but water temp stayed between the ideal temps of 60 to 65 so hopefully a lot of tiny crappie. As to the Gills the water is simply too cold at the moment(63 to 68 ) although they should be hot with the first full moon coming up in May. Possibly in the upper part of the big G or in the very shallow areas with a lot of grass where the waters darker , they may be sweeping but the females will not drop till 70 or better degrees Hopefully the 2 or 3 days this weekend in the low 80's will get them started. Ponds around here do have them bedding.

It seems high water is difficult on the fisherman, but good for the Crappie spawn (if the water doesn't drop to fast). I've found Shellcracker beds, but not gills on the bed yet. Fishing has been a little limited with rain, wind and high water.

It’s the most miserable year I can remember here on Wheeler.

I have been thinking about heading up to Guntersville maybe tomorrow and Thursday. Usually put in around town creek or state park. Anything going on up there? How bad is the grass this year? Last year I couldn’t even fish places where I’ve always been that was full of beds. Any info appreciated just trying to decide or if I’d be better off just crappie fishing around Logan or Neely. Thanks

There are fish on some of the beds, but I haven't caught any gills over 8"
