Default Kayak Trip Report, Limestone Bay/Creek

I took the day off and returned to Limestone toady trying a few new things. I kept half a limit and returned another dozen of so that would measure. Most came off a 1" slider on a 1/32 jig head with a safety pin spinner. No slabs today, just eaters, but a fun day. I figured the wind would be too high for spider rigging. I also got two on a Rapala Slab Rap, cool little crank bait for open water.

The water was 60 degrees at 7:30AM and had warmed to 63 degrees by 4:00PM. Water was a little dirty and about 12 inches higher than the weekend.

I managed 15 good ones, fighting the wind spider rigging in Flint creek today and you're right about the wind it was rough even in my flatbottom.

Is it going to be worth going out there tomorrow or would it be best to wait until Sunday to give it a go?

I think we will have to give it a try to know for sure. Not sure where I am going.... I am dragging a little this morning, but am fixing to load the kayak or hook up the boat one.

I expect the rain and cooler temps will slow them down a little, but if you shake in from of them they'll probably bite. I just wouldn't expect them to chase a bait.

I hit Lilly Pond for a little while today and got skunked. I did have one pretty good catfish on with a UL and 2 lb test on the 1" slider grub but he got into one of my spider rigging poles and the line broke.

I decided to go with my dad over to shoal creek in his SeaArk on Wilson lake instead. Found about 6. It was pretty cold and windy, but I was happier outside fishing in the cold than stuck inside!!!

Now I think I’m gonna load my kayak up again and head out to limestone! Hope to see one of you out there! I’ll be in a white Tacoma or my green perception pescador pro!
