I am a fan of "dead sticking " and another technique learned on this site is to "Vertical cast ". Let it drop to the bottom and reel up at a snails pace . I have also found that the crappie magnet do nothing straight tail will get hit while dead sticking quicker than some of my other baits .

For all the Slabsauce proponents. I was using SlabSauce. G Sauce to be specific.

These fish stack up where they were when it's really windy. When I found them last winter, I couldn't figure out how to keep the boat close to them without getting on them. The water is so clear, you can't run over them or they're gone. I got that handled now. These fish won't bite, or at least I can't catch them when the conditions are good. 2-3 foot waves and 20 mph wind make it tricky to say the least.

Next time I go try this particular spot, the conditions will be horrible again, and I'll have minnows and slip floats with me. Not sure how that's gonna work with heavy waves, but I'm gonna try it.

I have fished similar places and two things that have worked for me are a spoon and a float an jig but they usually don't take the float down it will tip up. Not a lot of spoon fishermen around anymore but it's deadly when they are not biting good.

If they ant on that spot on calm cold conditions they want be far from it unless they take out chasing bait so I would spend some time checking out the area more thoroughly . And I have seen days they want hit the G sauce and some days they want touch the slab sauce and many days they will hit both or one or the other and some days neither! So I keep both close By!

They just didn't cooperate. When I found them last year, it was 37 degrees cloudy and drizzling rain on and off with a 20 mph west wind. Just like today, except much colder.
How did you keep the boat in the right position?

Sometimes you just have to keep trying different things and places till something works. I fished Neely Henry Monday and it took me 4-5 hours to finally find some willing to bite.

spot lock up wind and fish off the back of the boat. Not sure why it took me that long to think of something that simple. LOL

These fish stack up real close to a bridge and spot lock doesn’t work under the bridge. I found that out last year when I found them. About wrecked the boat finding that out.
