Default Smith Lake Fishing Report: 05NOV and 18NOV 2019

Fished 05 NOV and 18 NOV at Smith Lake. Water temp was 64 degrees on 05 NOV and 57 degrees on 18 NOV. Caught about 20 each time and kept 10 - 15 to clean. All fish caught were black crappie - I think the big white crappie start moving in when the water gets closer to 50.

All fish were caught in 12 - 18 ft of water about 6 - 8 ft down; most were located around structure (not tight against it) or on the shaded side of docks.

Fish were caught using 2" Pico scented ring pointer shad in chartreuse and also on the 1.5" Bobby Garland Crappie Shooters in monkey milk and glacier color. I really like the BGSCs because you can hook them 2 different ways for 2 different presentations - when you hook them with the hook coming out of the flat slide they flutter down slower and I like using this when jigging or fishing within close proximity of where I'm casting.

Were you on the Cullman side or the Double Springs side? I live about 20 minutes west of Lake shore and I rarely fish it. It is indeed a tough lake to find them, at least for me.

I fished Smith lake quite a lot when,I lived in Battleground,it is a hard lake to fish but when you find em you can rack up,I normally shot docks and fished deep for em with jigs.
