The crappie I catch can't be eaten by no bird because they live under the water. And they couldn't swallow them if they could catch them. Of course they eat some of the forage but cycle of life it is returned back to the water. Got pictures of this years bait forage but poor signal at this time.

I was pier fishing on the Gulf of Mexico and there were pin fish ( looks like a bream, lives in salt water, the pins are the rays of the dorsal fins. Like sharp needles) killing my minnows I was using for flounder. I looked one of the little killers and tossed him on the pier. He ended up being a late night pelican snack. They can swallow a fairly large fish.

I was fishing my favorite gravel Pitt a couple years ago. When the creek beside it gets up all kind of fish come in the Pitt. It had came a big rain and water was rushing in there. A blue Herron was sitting right where the water was coming in. I was fishing my rear off and catching nothing. He was catching what I will always believe was crappie every few minutes and just putting them in a pile. I wanted to shoot him. But I realized that’s just part of nature. But if still made me mad. Lol

We've been seeing these for several years but in the spring of the year. I inquired to a biologist about them and he said they summer in the great lakes but migrate to Fla and La. during the winter. Beautiful bird.
