Default Pelicans at elk river mills

I fished at elk river mills for a couple hours yesterday. Only caught a couple bass. There were probably a thousand pelicans there feeding. I have a video of them making a big circle and closing in and feeding on the fish if i can get it to post. I am sure they do not discriminate on which type of fish they eat, bass, crappie, bream, shad etc. Has to take a toll on the small fish. Any one catching any crappie around elk river ? Hope it improves.

The American white pelican can consume up to 3# of fish a day! You talking about wiping out the fish!

They mostly go after the schools of shad, they're always in Limestone bay.

When the water got high this spring.... remember when it was almost to the store...it washed away a lot of the established structure. They still there they just ain't where they used to be. The crappie I catch can't be eaten by no bird because they live under the water. And they couldn't swallow them if they could catch them. Of course they eat some of the forage but cycle of life it is returned back to the water. Got pictures of this years bait forage but poor signal at this time.

they come onto T hill every winter and are a glorious site. watch them circle and round up schools of shad and then dive into the chaos. natural thing and there are plenty of shad for all.
