Default Crappie fishing rewards x 2

We all know the rewards of crappie fishing, the peace and serindity of fishing alone at day light or evening or at night or those trips with the young and eager to learn or even the time spent on the water with a spouse or buddy. Those times are invaluable. But as everyone also knows, crappie are darn good to eat and one the most sought after gamefish for that purpose. So after the memory inducing trips it is time to go home and hopefully with a cooler full of fish to clean. The trip has produced a time spent that a dollar amount can’t be attached to. But if you are thoughtful the pleasures of the crappie won’t end there. I get no greater joy than that of securing a few bags of fillets and delivering them to the elderly that can no longer get them for theirselves. A widow woman or a couple that loved a crappie meal but can’t fish anymore. They are always so appreciative and happy to be thought of ...... well I can’t describe the felling, I just feel good all over. So a good trip can be a blessing and fun x 2. I hope someone remembers me when I get that way and age.

Excellent description of what it means to fish for our favorite fish. I, too, enjoy giving away fish to those who can't go or have no one to supply a favorite fish to eat. I work as a chaplain for a local hospice and have given many bags of frozen cleaned slabs away over the years. It is one of the main reasons I go as often as I do. This summer has been one of the best for me catching slabs. I don't know why. Its just been an excellent year. I've had the pleasure of giving more fish away than ever before. Thanks for sharing.

Good stuff for sure, I really enjoy cooking them of friends and family as well. There's something about fishing that just melts the world's problems away, be it catching cooking or just being on the water. Same with hunting.

Henry David Thoreau said it this way, "Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after."
