Default TN River Water - Be Careful

For the kayakers, be careful this time of year....looks like the water could be more deadly than snakes, gators, and more...

Family: Ala. man infected with flesh-eating bacteria after kayaking on Tenn. River

It’s got where you can’t do anything. Praying for him and the family.

I saw that last night. Scary stuff. I've read that the bacteria always enters through a cut, even a tiny one. 100% of the time I have at least a small cut or tear on one of my hands. Usually multiple ones.

I seen that last night on our local news and I'm wondering if it's in the water wouldn't it get in the fish and if so what would happen to someone if they eat the fish or reckon the heat from cooking it would kill the bacteria but either way that's getting scary when you can't even put your hand in the water.

I know salt water species like shrimp, catfish ect carry some pretty nasty bacteria. I keep a bottle of 50 percent bleech and 50 percent water in my boat . If I get stuck or cut I spray it on my hands. Might need to start using it in fresh water

I asked my buddy who is a Marine Biologist here in Alabama. I’m waiting on his reply. Kinda scared to eat the fish we caught today from there.
