Man . That’s . I’ve been out there at night with everything on and a spot light shining at people coming at me
    . If I didn’t move , I’d have been ran over.
The truth is hard to accept, so is life .

The way I understand it there was a cabin cruiser that run them over and I might be willing to bet the operator was drunk or under the influence which happened to me one 4th of July as I was watching the fireworks at Point Mallard,as everyone was leaving this cabin cruiser come flying down the channel and "bumped" me out of the channel. However the Refuge Officers saw what happened and stopped him to give him a breath test and he blew a .21 which they took him to jail for,I ask all to watch out for those type boats cause they might be not all there which is a bad thing on the water, especially at night

A couple years ago I was fishing Limestone Bay (Arrowhead Landing) in the fall. I Bass Boat came charging right at me out of the creek with me paddling like a hummingbird on Redbull trying to get out of the way. I was spider rigging in my kayak where the water drops off about 18" coming out of the stump field. The water was just deep enough that the stumps were covered. When the clown was within a 100 feet of me, he finally saw me and turned hard left. Then he comes along side and started cussing about how he couldn't see me and how I shouldn't be on the water. He then jumped back on a plane and goes charging through the stump field. He made it a couple hundred yards before nailing a stump and nearly tearing the motor off. I got the enjoyment of watching him slowly limp towards Arrowhead using his trolling motor. I've decided the main lake areas just aren't worth the trouble (and risk of life) between Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Too many folks without basic courtesy, skill, knowledge or common sense with too much boat and/or motor.

I would have to follow him laughing all the way to the boat launch, that one problem, folks buy those big boats, bass boats included, and think people like me in my flatbottom should get out of their way

Reminds me of the guys who put in 20ft glass boats into the Hartselle Flint Creek ramp. Put in there, take off downstream wide open and go all the way to hwy 67. Why not just put in at the 67 ramp and save the fuel and risk? For the record the couple of guys I regularly see there that do that are nice and try to slow down when they pass you but unless they come to forward idle speed when they pass, they are better off going by on full plane imo.

I do understand the current laws for navigation and by nature I abide them. But it's time we revuate the current laws on the books and consider allowing the party lights on boats. Granted you can have confusion on direction of travel. But I do believe it would help. First rule in boating. Never approach and an object any faster than you are willing to hit it.

Never seen a boat that wasn't traveling faster I want to be hit. Ever. I think you missed my point. My point being that increased illumination could decrease close calls/serious injury. Just my humble opinion.
