    Default Humbling experience

So I was supposed to fish gville last night with a buddy in his boat he cancelled. I got the itch about 8am and decided to head out in my lil tinny. Got to the boat ramp launched pulled up and tied up under the bridge and here comes the wind. Then I thought about those who went before us and didn't make it off the lake. So I'm thinking Joe do you tuff it out or do you go put this boat back on the trailer. I unhook head to the ramp turn around rety. Now the wind hitting harder, forget it I'm out. Load up and decide to fish from bank, get down to the causeway no more wind. Now I'm frustrated but I lived to post this post. Ended up only catching 2 stripe and a dunk crappie. Yes, gville humbled me today. Next time I'll just take my waders and bank in these conditions.

    Blessings

You done the right thing ! It could have been one of those many times that it only got worse! And it can get bad really quick as know!

Better to fish another day than push your luck in a small boat. I fish from a kayak and the wind isn't my friend!

Guntersville is a dangerous lake when the wind picks up. When I was 17 me and a buddy got caught about 8 miles from a boat ramp when a bad storm blew up. It was awful. I really wasn't sure we'd make it back to the truck. Glad you played it smart and got in safe.

Been in that spot once three years ago at night in December in Decatur. I could almost see the headlines in the newspaper. The only thing that saved us that night was the steel cajones of my partner at the helm. Still ain't sure if he saw that waves were touches the roll on the gunnels.

Good call, even a cooler full isn't worth the risk. They'll be better days if you're around for them

Main reason I haven’t had my kayak out many times. Always better days to get out.
