    Default Smith Lake recommendations???

My wife, daughter and I are headed to Smith Lake for the first time tomorrow to explore new water. Any recommendations for fishing this time of year to a newcomer in case I get a chance to wet a line in between all the riding around? Also, any particular ramp to use or stay away from?

Be careful not to get lost and best place to put in is Smith Lake Park!

Smith Lake Park is a great ramp. I would poke around weed lines in 4-10 fow. There are two really good sloughs WNW of Goat Island. Last time I was down there BG fishing I couldn't keep the spots off my red worm

If you put in at Smith Lake park go upstream into Ryan creek and you should get on some spotted bass around some the rocks, they may not be big but are a lot of fun to catch and I caught my personal best spot there at 6lbs 2 ounces

Well, my wife and daughter didn’t want to fish today, so we boat rode almost all of Smith Lake! Ok, maybe only 2/3 of it. Water was choppy due to all the traffic. I’ll feel it in my back for days. LOL
It’s a beautiful body of water. Depth finder broke 200ft a few times. I’d like to go back and play around with the electronics on that lake. I heard there’s a town flooded in there somewhere. It would be interesting to see that in down and side scan. So, no fish, but had a great day with the girls. I’m pretty sure we made some good memories today.
