Default Kayak Trip Report, Swan Creek

I spent yesterday at Swan Creek chasing a gills and shellcrackers. I kept a limit of large gills returning all shellcrackers plus many, many large gills after my limit. Fun day, all fish were caught single pole, best bait was a Mepp's red and black spinner fly. Gills were scattered, but not bedding. I found small clusters of shellcrackers on beds, but they were a little small (most about 8 inches). I even managed to get in two large catfish (about 4 or 5 pounds) and a bass that was about 3 pounds. Lots of fun on an ultralight with 4 pound test.

So much fun and great eating! I plan to get a few gills for the skillet soon. Probably won't be that size though!

Ditch were they tight to the pads or out in front, we cant buy much of bite until the sun goes about tree top in the evening then its as if you turned on a switch they hit everything with a small spinner or live cricket till it gets dark enough you got to leave so the cotton mouths can still be safely seen?
