My friend that fishes there pretty often has talked to a biologist and the game warden who works that area and both of them told him that the lake was not stocked with crappie. So if they did stock it with threadfin Shad I sure hope they took because there is definitely no shortage of crappie to eat them. I had 14, 11-11 1/2Ē fish from Guntersville on ice in my cooler. I brought home 16, 9 1/2-10 1/2Ē fish from DRR. There was a layer of ice between them in my cooler. Very easy to keep separate. There was not quite a quart bag of fillets from the DRR fish and there was well over half a gallon bag of fillets from the Guntersville fish. Those DRR fish just donít have enough to eat.

I know what you're taking about furflyin. I fish a lake that has shad but is only around 100a and the fish a still small, but you can catch over a 100 in one evening easy. Most fish in this lake are 8 - 9 inches or smaller. I would bet it will get the same way if no one keeps fish. Few small lakes will grow big crappie. That's why I was shocked the new world record came from a pond.

But I do agree Iíve caught 10 inch fish from Wheeler and they are way bigger than the 10 inch fish from duck.

I agree it doesn’t seem possible. “They” might not have stocked it but somebody else may have. Or maybe there was a pond or three with crappie in it that stocked it. Regardless, they’re there, in force, and skinny.

Yeah definitely seems hard to believe they didn't stock it.

If you want to see dinks though, you should go to this lake near the Duck called Forrest Ingram lake. Its easy to go catch 100 there in an evening an none measure over 9".
