    Default Weiss water conditions

How long do you guys think it will be before Weiss water conditions are back to being somewhat normal after all this rain?

It's according to how much more rain we get and how fast they can pull it down. Still a lot of water coming down the Etowah and ostanula rivers. I would say a week and a half to two weeks but thats just a guess. Little river and some of the major creeks may clear sooner if they can get the water flowing back out of them. The water was still backing up in the creek I live on last night. Much more rain and things might get ugly

They are expecting the water to crest Monday at 571. That is 7 ft above summer pool. But they are still catching fish at church house cove, and a few other places.

Yep and you can put your boat in off hwy9 or JR's parking lot! :-)
Seriously, the folks that own property on lake weiss and the local
businesses in Cedar Bluff and Center are really getting screwed by
Ala Power. Lake Neely Henry, the lake directly below Weiss is 5 feet
below normal winter pool. Why is Ala Power flooding weiss and
sucking the bottom out of Neely Henry? The same thing happened
    in 2015.

They would rather flood farmland than Gadsden. Looked like they all had the gates open. Neely Henry it's actually high up river. If the flood gates are open the lower end will drop like a stone. It's crazy how Neely Henry works . They also flood Logan Martin every time . All that aside it's probably going to be a while before any lake is back to normal in Alabama.

I"m sure money and politics plays a major part in it. It's not just farmland . Many homes and buisnes in Rome Georgia are having problems. School buses can't run because water is over the roads. They don't care because they are not politically accountable to the citizens of Floyd county. Someone opined they did not want to flood their mall which they stupidly built in a flood plain. People upstream are taking a bigger hit than is necessary and it is just wrong!

I understand coach, but there's way more people in a city that would be affected. Some of it is just where the water gets caught. It's bad no matter to place. Alabama power has to make decisions that I wouldn't want to make.

Glenn Rome Georgia is a city too. It is similar in size and real estate values to Gadsden. I teach children who can't get to school because water is standing on roads and in or surrounding their houses. I know people who have campers along the lake in flood plains take their chances but when I see pictures of boats sitting on dry ground because Neely is 5 feet below full pool it irritates me. They could take three or four feet of water off Weiss and relieve a lot of problems. Yes they know Cherokee county is a rural farming county and have little political clout. I guarantee you if Rome was just across the line in Cherokee county it would be different. Let me finish by saying the flood has affected me in no way but I have friends and students who have been. Also these people work just as hard and their lives Ian's property mean just as much to them as it does to the people of Gadsden

I know what you saying, and believe me I feel bad for anyone affected but it's not just the population, Neely Henry is actually flooded. The lower end is low because they are pulling water as fast as possible. Minnesota bend is a pinch point and it's flooded above it. The city boat ramp on 431 was under water a few days ago. Check Alabama lake info, every dam on the coosa river has the flood gates open. The dams where built to prevent flooding. It was way worse before dams where built. People on Logan Martin are flooded as well and I'm sure on down the river it's just as bad. All we can do is pray for the people affected by the water and help where we can.
