Battery Size?

So what advice do you have for battery sizes for my trolling motor? I have a Terova 80lb thrust trolling motor. As you guys know, I do a lot of trolling, both long lining and cranks. I had size 14s when I bought the boat, then put 29s in when I replaced them. I need some new batteries this year, what do you think I should put in there?

If you can find them go with the group 31. They seem to be getting harder to find for some reason. They are same size as your 29’s but have heavier plates with more amp hour capacity. If you have the room and can stand the extra weight for the amount of trolling you do I’d go golf cart.

Group 31s is what you need.....I got Duracell group 31 deep cycles at Sam's Club...best price I found. I also up graded my cranking battery that runs my live well and electronics and everything else from a group 24 to a group 29 .

Bob, I run group 29 on my 36 volt never had a problem. I also run one on my cranking battery. I have very good luck with them, as I spend a lot of time long lining.

Check here in town, rainbow city, there is a battery dealer that has blemished battery of all sizes that they usually have 1/3-1/2 off and may have a little scratch on them.

Bob I run Deka group 31’s. They are very heavy. Not all group 31 batteries are created equal. I learned that when I bought our business a few years back. The weight of the battery makes a huge difference. The heavier the better. I use to run Blemished batteries but they typically only come with a 30 days warranty. Before these Deka batteries I had a set of Crown batteries. After 5 months they wouldn’t stay charged. I checked the water level and they were bad low. I got them replaced and went with the Deka brand. I took them out of the boat Saturday while spring cleaning. I checked the water and they were still at the exact level they were when I installed them last June. Same Minn Kota 3 bank charger was apparently causing the Crowb batteries to boil over or some other reason caused them to lose water quickly.

I got got my Deka group 31’s at Wilks Tire and Battery in Albertville
