    Default Ala River Near Millbrook

I fish the Alabama near Millbrook/Jackson Lake and about two miles up and down river. If you fish this area please let me know what you think about it. Specifically I think there has been a major change in crappie behavior (if that's the right word). There was a time 8 to 10 years ago when if I needed to fill my freezer, I would go out and catch 'em. Now finding crappie in this area is difficult--at least for me. Admittedly, this is not the best area of the river to be crappie fishing because of the lack of creeks. About the only "creeks" here are Jackson Lake and Coosada Creek. If you fish this area, what is your opinion/experience over the last several years?

I do not fish the Alabama River, I have however fished the Tombigbee Waterway for about 30 years. Not so far from you and very similar places. One thing I have learned is that river fish move.... A lot. I have places that hold fish almost every year but for some reason they seem to disappear for a while. The only advice that I can give is not to be satisfied fishing the same ole spots. Go out and search new ones, but never forget the ones that have produced, sooner or later they will return. Over the years I have become familiar with many miles of river system from near West Point, MS all the way down to Demopolis, AL. It takes a lot of time to learn different areas but it pays off.
