    Default The Gulf of Guntersville

That's what I started calling the river after we'd been there about an hour. She was rolling this afternoon! It was probably not a real smart idea to go out in the first place but we fared just fine. We didn't fish in the dangerously rough water. We fished in the barely dangerously rough water. LOL I've never been seasick but I did get a little dizzy while fishing. I have never bobbed around so much in my life. They had 14 out of 17 flood gates open and the turbines were on too.

We went in search of Sauger but ended up catching 4 nice crappie and an abundance of White Bass. Most of the White Bass were pretty small but we did catch maybe a dozen good ones.

We fished in the locks for about 2 hours to stay out of the roughest water but it was still pretty rough. After that we went down river and caught a good many fish down there.

Man they have been spilling forever. Is it ever gonna stop. Been wanting to go down there for weeks but every time I go to TVs they say it’s spilling. When I read the title I lol’d. Figured you were talking about browns

I've been down there (on the bank) when they were pulling water hard and there was a very strong wind blowing upriver. There were waves rolling down the river that you could surf on. It looked like the opening of Hawaii 5-0 or something.

Probably going to get worse before better as far as gates being open. Fished the back water this morning and its as high as its been all winter. Last weekend it was almost 2 ft lower than it is now and with the call for 80 to 100 percent rain over the next 2 days ,Id say the gates open are here to stay for most of this month. Sorry you didnt catch any Sauger as this use to be prime time for them when we had a fishery for them .

Yeah if we get 2-3" of rain as predicted, they're gonna have the flood gates open for quite a while.

This weather has been a pain. It's not even good hunting. Be careful out there guys, it can be dangerous this time of year

It’s hard to get any good fishing time in when it rains every Saturday. Does this make 3 in a row or 4?

Well I'm off work to hunt and I may have had 4 days it wasn't raining or hot. On one of the hot days I almost went fishing but the river was muddy. I hope it get better next week I got a road trip planned
