Well I had to replace my 2 stroke 40 hp Mercury at 22 years of service.
I have never owned a new motor, so I dont know what the average person does, insure or no insure?
I realize it under $10K, so I didnt sell the farm.
I don't even know what coverage is available, boat, motor or both? Theft, damage while using/trailering, what ?
Typically I like to self-insure, but maybe this is crazy on new outboards.
Since its new and reliable, I would like to head out to some Alabama gems, get more outta exploring than catching fish. Any advice?
Thanks in advance.
Full coverage....full replacement value. Covers everything.

Boat ins is cheap
I agree. Insurance is cheap. Heck, even my tractors are insured.
I dont drive my truck without insurance, and i wouldn't drive my boat without insurance. You never know when something might happen. Just ask Bama.

It's a great piece of mind from a liability point also I just wonder if my underwriter knows I spend more time with my boat than my truck or my car combined. shhhh don't tell

A lower unit will run around $2000. It will take a lot of insurance payments to make that.
