Default ISO a oil resorvor for a 5.3

    Man. I've had it with
tjis oil drinking Chevy. Lol. Up to 1-2 quarts a week. Then it started leaking oil. Dropped a bunch on one of my contractors new driveways. Whhhaaaat..... but I showed it yesterday I traded it on a Chevy 3/4 ton van with a 6.0. I hear better reports on this motor. I checked the mileage when I filled up today 20 mpg. Not sure oil mpg tho. Bawhahaha

One word Ford. I was a Chevy man for years, no more . That 6.0 is a fair motor but not very strong. My father in law had a 3/4 ton with the 6.0 still running good but 10mpg on a good day and not as strong as my f150.

Glenn this one is pretty strong. 379 ish torque. And I checked the mpg when I filled up not just the computer. It's truely getting exactly 20 mpg. I was not aware of the problems with the 5.3 until I purchased this 08 4/4. It started using oil around 85000 miles. When I traded it in I told them it was using oil the salesman told me most 5.3 s did use oil. I was glad to trade him that lemon. Run good but two many issues. This van turns 1300 rpm at 55 mph. That's why I'm getting good fuel mileage with 3.42 gears.

Yep G. Had an 04. Drove it 200000 miles no problem. Some of the newer ones are oil burners. Got a guy at church has 50000 miles on a 16 z 71. Using three quarts between oil changes. It's hit and miss bro. My 13 z71 is perfect.

Wow, I had not heard about the 5.3's burning oil. I have 2 and so far I don't think they use oil. I just bought one and have not drove it enough to really know. I will have to keep an eye on it.

Default ISO a oil resorvor for a 5.3

Mine started using oil progressively more and more and started a little smoke on start up. Found to be bad pcv valve, changed value cover (pcv valve made into it) and problem solved. Uses no oil between changes now at 180k
