Heard some hints that make me think my wife may be getting me a kayak for Christmas. If so hope you have some open invitations then. Lol

I usually do it once or twice a year. Always a good opportunity to share tips and learn a little from each other. I was too busy over the summer and I'm about to get buried in work again.

Is this a kayak only party?

Nope, Madison County Lake is electric motor only, but you can launch larger boats and they rent john boats and trolling motors. I may not leave until it warms up some, but plan to stay until late afternoon.

Rough day, I caught a dozen or so Crappie the first hour, 8 went in the cooler then the wind got up. The Crappie were biting very light and with the wind I could stay on the brush pile or feel the bite. I brought some redworms to see what I could do with the bream. I usually only fish artificial bait, but plan to add some redworms when chasing gills. I caught a few dozen, 11 in the cooler. The fish were scattered with no pattern, I found out way when I left. The Lake Manager said the lake turned over around Wednesday of last week, glad I caught anything after that news. Crappie came single pole with a 1/16oz Marabou jig in white, chartreuse with a red head about 8 to 10 foot deep in 10 to 12 feet of water. The water was cloudy with visibility of about 18 inches and 58 degrees at daylight.

Nice to meet you on the water today Ditch Basser. Thanks for the open invite. How long does it take the lake to get better after turnover?

Great meeting you also. Anytime you see me out come on over. Their not my fish so I don't mind someone fishing right next to me or following me around.

Should be good next week, will depend also on the rain Monday night. I little inflow will move the fish to the clean water in the shallow end. Big run off will muddy it up for a week or two.
