Default Kayak Trip Report, Limestone Bay

I dragged my kayak into Limestone Creek and fished the North end of Limestone Bay today. Kept half a limit for dinner tomorrow and returned about the same number of keepers. Numerous small Crappie, bass and gills were also returned. Best bait was a 1/32oz spinner with a 1" slider grub in black and yellow. The water was clear with visibility of about 18 inches and 58 degrees.

Where do you put in now that the gates are closed?

    Exit at Greenbrier going south.
    Turn west onto Peoples Rd
At the "T" intersection turn left going south.
When Pryer Rd turns left you'll see a dirt road to the right, follow it until the deadend.

There'll be an old bridge that's out. I drag my kayak from this point about a 100 yards to Limestone Creek.

Thanks. I was trying to find a way to walk to get to limestone. I know exactly where that is.

Question for you Ditch...when you say a 1/32 ounce spinner are you referring to a Beatle Spin, a rooster tail inlinespinner, or a jig head with a blade on it like a Road Runner?
I live in Huntsville and love to read all of your post. Ihave been a life-long bass fisherman but I got hooked on crappie fishing fouryears ago and hardly even pick up the bass gear anymore except to fish theoccasional tournament with a friend. We sure are blessed to have so many greatspots to fish right out of our back door!

Talked myself out of loading my gear up Saturday night and going over there Sunday morning. The wind was supposed to pick up pretty quick. You had the right idea going to the upper end.

Looks like a fun time! I've never caught enough perch at one time to bring them home and make a meal out of them. I hear that they are pretty dang good, though.

Is the Arrowhead boat ramp closed off too when they close the gates?
