Water temps for fall bite
I知 new to this and still trying to learn. But, it seems that I知 not the only one who has struggled with the high temperatures getting crappie to bite. What water temps trigger the fall bite? Will the narrow parts of the rivers cool faster than the larger bodies with slower current?

Went bluegilling with my wife today. Water temp was at 79 out on the river near Madison. Hopefully it値l keep dropping.

It usually starts picking up for me when the water temp gets to around 70 and i think given a week in the 40s - 60s it should start getting close to that soon. The best fishing i have in the fall is when the water temp is around 55-60, but we are still a good bit aways from that. The river channels should be a little cooler now, but once we start having some cooler nights and shorter days, the shallow waters will be a cooler.

I fish Guntersville mainly. We notice them starting what I call their "Fall Pattern" once the water temp drops to 70. However 65 and below is when I really notice an improvement.

Thanks for the feedback. It looks like the temps will be dropping soon. Looking forward to the water temps coming down below 70.
