    Default Crappie in Cullman?

Can anyone offer any fall crappie tips for fishing Lake Catoma?

I was also wondering if anyone on the board has fished the new Duck River Reservoir any? I've been a handful of times and have had success catching big bluegill and small bass but only caught a couple of dink crappie on minnows. Being new, the lake still has so much standing brush from about 25ft of water to the shore its hard to isolate them on brushpiles. I feel like they are scattered everywhere.

If the weather was right temp.ie FALL the crappie and bass would be following the minnows to the back of the small feeder creeks, but with the temps.being like this I would think they still deep in the cooler water try fishing around and upstream of the 157 bridge, there is a large stump field around there that I have caught em on in hot weather

Thanks Slabby. Fishing around the 157 bridge is about all I know how to do. I'm aware of the stump field you reference though...the point they are on past the bridge was totally out of water during the drought a couple of years back. I'll give it a try next time I'm out there.

If that don't work try the far end of the lake there is a ditch where water runs under that road they might be in I've caught a few there and my personal best bass there at 7.9 lbs on a crappie jig

I’ve bass fished Catoma several years but this will be my first shot at targeting Crappie, if I find out anything I’ll be glad to share the info here

Went Saturday morning to the Duck River Reservoir. Found a school of crappie suspended about 10' in 25 fow but they were constantly on the move and hard to stay on top of. The wind was blowing gently already at 7 am and pairing that with my only fish finder on the boat being at the stern I just couldn't keep track of them.
