Default Kayak Trip Report, Barron Fork

I made a short trip to Barron Fork looking for lunch, only fished a couple hours before the rain chased me off. I found a few in 2 to 3 feet of water on a 1/32oz beetle spin in white.

You stay pretty consistent with size and color of bait (small and white) but it amazes me how you can find them in so many different depths. Is that water restricted to base employees?

It's not on Redstone. I drag my kayak below the bridge on Zierdt Rd. It's a large flat with the deepest water only about 4 to 5 feet.

Winter drawndown started 1 SEPT, but only down a few inches so far. This flat will be dry in late winter. There's always a few Crappie that come off the main lake to spawn in the spring and stay through the summer. Over the last few years I've learned where most of the stumps are, LOL.

Here's a guide, large rains upstream will always bring it back up temporarily.
