Nice job! You just never know where you're going to find them. Curious about your spider rig setup: you like minnows or jigs, how fast do you like to go this time of year?

I may be the worst person on crappie.com to ask about spider rigging. LOL That was only maybe the 5th time I've gone spider rigging. I found this spot by trying to longline through it late last spring. I made 2 passes through it and got hung with 5 of 8 poles the first pass, but the other 3 poles had crappie on them. IIRC the smallest of those 3 crappie was 1lb 4oz and the biggest was 1lb 11oz. We rigged up again and made another pass longlining and caught another fish or two but got hung up on multiple poles again. I had plates on my boat to move my rod holders to a spider rigging position so we backed off into the shade, moved them and moved another seat up front. We slowly drifted back across that spot and hammered them. I'd much prefer to use jigs due to ease of use but I noticed this spring that you have much less time to get a hookset or they're off. The way these hit Friday afternoon, jigs would have been just fine. They literally were hitting them on the run and loading the poles on the bite. The bites were the most aggressive I've seen yet while using rod holders. I was moving about .3mph

I will do more spider rigging from now on. I really, really like it. I just need to find a few more spots like the one I've been fishing. It's about the size of my pickup. I still don't know what's down there holding the fish. I think it's a big rock. It doesn't look like anything special on the SI or DI. It's just a blob and that blob has about $20 of my terminal tackle stuck to it. LOL
