    Default Carpet!

Posting this specifically for you Coach. After today I have decided I'll never have carpet in another boat. A couple of weeks ago, I parked my boat in a storage building at our shop. I left it there for about a week. I didn't know at the time that those big Ring Neck Doves were roosting in it. They dang near ruined my boat! Took me 2 soldi days to get her cleaned up.

    NO MORE CARPET FOR ME.

Glad you got it cleaned up! Those ring neck doves are an invasive bird and their is no limit and no closed season on those! But I guess your in the city limits which may have a firearm discharge law! They do eat good though!

I agree with you Fur carpet is good for certain things but a boat isn't one of them at least not for a boat that catches fish. It looks great especially in a new rig sitting on the show room floor but is sure is easier if you have some kind of spray in to come home and spray it out with a hose and it's ready to go again and I know with my previous boat it would take a week or to for it to dry out with carpet but that's my opinion and now a days most boat manufacturers offer a alternative to carpet.

Yeah the shop is in the city limits. It's only about 3/4 mile from the police station. You can imagine with all the feed trailers we have there that birds and RATS are always an issue. I've had a few rat killings and I just call the police chief and tell him I'm about to start shooting.

FYI, those ringneck doves eat just as good as their cousins that do have a season on them, plus the breast is about twice as big.

It does look good and it feels good under bare feet and it's cooler, but I guess I'm gonna learn to live without it one of these days when I trade boats.

Man, that sounds rough and hindsight is always 20/20 but a boat cover may be in order. I have a boat with carpet now, the 1st ever, it has it's advantages and disadvantages, I like it though, just a booger to keep clean!

Yes, a cover is coming soon. We have a guy that makes tarps, and other things for us that we use on semi trailers and he is going to make me a towable tarp for my boat.

Not sure about those those ringneck doves doves being unprotected . they.at one time were included in the daily bag limit during dove season.

The absolutely should not be included. The season is for Mourning and White winged Doves. I will find out for certain and update the thread.

Posted a link but it had other stuff attached to it so here is a clipping out of it!

Eurasian collared doves are classified as an exotic and there is no closed season and no bag limit on them.
