    I catch and keep plenty of fish, but if I don't return the largest I rob myself of catching them even bigger next year!

    I've finally found out what I've been doing wrong with the Shellcracker. I've been looking too shallow instead of the 10 to 20 feet of water they like, LOL.

    Yep, wasn't expected but I would bounce off the bottom 12 to 18 inches and let the bait flutter back down. About every other cast when I bounced the jig again I would end up hooking a fish that had picked it up. I had several bass mixed in also.

    The water was lower last year with visibility of 8 to 10 feet. This year only 2 to 3 feet, but still very clear. The lake bottom is all sand or rock.
