Default FYI - New Lake in NE Cullman County Opening July 17th

See the link below. Doubt fishing is worth much of anything but it will be cool to get out there and scan and mark structure and contours.

It does have a 30 fish limit of crappie with a 9" minimum....with this being a young, 640 acre body of water, what are the best practices for harvesting fish this early?

Seems like I remember someone posting pictures a while back when they where building that lake. Should not take long for the crappie to populate a lake that size

Let me know if you have room and want to give it a try when it cools off a little. Couldn’t have worse luck than I’ve had on catoma. Lol

Iam guessing itz pretty well stocked of crappie in the lake since there is a 30 limit for crappie and only 20 for bluegill..

Sure thing. I plan to try to get another sonar unit soon that has Autochart Live so I can start mapping the contours while it's hot. Maybe rig up a homemade bimini top too to keep out of the sun. I probably won't fish much either until it cools off some, however, the reason I'm excited about this lake is that I can be at the launch in less than 10 min from my house which makes after work fishing trips much easier on me so maybe I can get on it a couple times a week in the cooler evenings.

I posted some pictures after the Christmas flood in 2015. It went from almost nada to full pool in those couple of days which they weren't planning for. I think they stocked it the following spring and of course people have felt the need to take stocking into their own hands and probably dumped lots of fish in there.

Yes. I think there was a few hundred thousands of dollars worth underwater. They recovered most of it I believe.

That would be fun catching crappie off of a bulldozer or dumptruck

LOL. Hopefully some with Mega Sideimaging can get in there and scan the bottom near the dam...may produce some interesting screenshots!
