    Default Weiss Advice

Hello to all! We are coming to Weiss on 3/23 and staying for a week. We changed our plans from Ky Lake to Weiss. Love to longline but will do whatever the fish want. Reading the posts and looking at the weather, it appears the fish are currently pre-spawn and on the move. Some reports of males on the beds now. I know that the actual spawn will last a couple weeks, but what are the thoughts when we come down in 26 days? I know that weather permitting, but I certainly hope that we are not in post-spawn??? Any advice will be appreciated on what our plan of attack should be. BTW - we are staying at cowan creek resort (Pruetts) but I am a little familiar with the lake as we have been to Weiss 2 times before. Thank you!

If the weather stays the same you will be here at the last of the spawn. The males are up in the bays and the females are laying out deeper, just waiting. Some fish are being caught in 5 ft of water. the next full moon will get them going, I eat every morning at Cowan creek marina, ask Mark who I am and I will try to help you out.

    Crappie Flopper,

Thank you very much for the reply. I know how the weather can be and will be watching. It does sound like they are on the move to do their thing however. I appreciate the advice and will check with Mark to point me to you. See you in a few weeks!

Thanks Kburg....that is good to know! Whole different world than here in the buckeye state. I am sure that they come in waves as well as the blacks go before the whites. When you got em in April, were they mostly white or black crappie?

I think this year if the weather holds out. It could last longer than normal so you should have a good trip.

Blacks were usually first but when they're on you'll get both

Thanks coach! I hope so. I have a limited window since I work for the schools and this is around our break time. I appreciate you taking the time to reply.
