Well at least you got a shear. If I did that project I would have to cut it out by hand. I do have access to some nice tools but a shear really speeds things up.

Mithcell, you're right! I've been watching Richard Gene the Fishing Machine too, so I can use a coleman cooler if I need to.

Glenn, you aren't kidding. It greatly speeds up the process. Our shear is a beast, it never even knows it's cutting the .125" aluminum. LOL The brake is nice too because I can make angle instead of buying it. I have yet to use a new, uncut sheet of aluminum on the boat. Everything I've used so far has come out of the scrap rack. I may have to get out a new piece for the doors....

I'm building a trolling rack for my new boat right now. Got the welding done. Got to drill all the holes this weekend and I'll be ready to roll

Thanks. All went well this evening until I got started building the doors. Then I went through plan 1, 2 and 3. I think I settled on plan 4. LOL I never rush into a fabrication decision. I overthink every single one of them.

There is nothing wrong with that. Like they say measure twice cut once.

Looks good. If you need any help and near Decatur. I’ve done a lot of aluminum boat modifications.
