Those boat waves beating the bank kill the shallow bite as the day goes on.
I fish early and quit when the green carp fisherman start running up and down the river.
Was at my go-to lake, Lake Jordan, this past weekend. There was a two day bass fishing tournament going on and those fellas were zooming everywhere. How would this affect the crappie fishing? I tried but didn't catch a single crappie. I am a beginner to crappie fishing and trying to figure these tasty fish out....so it could be the newb in me being the reason I didn't catch squat but wanted to get some opinions....... I tried close to the bank as I figured they would be in shallower water spawning. The water temp was 64 degrees.

The best way to handle green carp tourney fishermen is to keep at least 4 armed and ready torpedoes ready and fire at will if they invade your 300 feet safe zone. If on the bank keep plenty of rocks available.................. On the big G if you are bridge fishing you have to survive the blast off(anywhere from 5am to 6 am ) and them ignoring the IDLE speed only signs around all the bridges ...once they have zoomed thru give or take about 10 min, it takes about 20 min for the fish, when they are biting around the bridges to start back.
This is why I like the skinny water, not many Bass Boat doing 70MPH when the water is 18 inches deep and full of stumps. At least not many for very long, LOL.
Good points all. I might add that it is not only during tournaments. I have fished around bridges on Guntersville during the months of Nov. through March and many days the traffic from bass boats is heavy. They pass under many of the bridges many times during the day. I have seen one boat make 5 or 6 trips (in and out) to a particular area. Fortunately, the crappie get used to it in some areas. But I never get used to it, even though I also fished bass tournaments.
Not that it doesn't affect it but last weekend was not a good weekend for most. We have a front come in and it had the fish are little off. I fish all week and it got a lot harder after Thursday but the bass guy's may have played in as well.

Three weeks ago I had some idiot cut across two of my waypoints on a 3 - 5' drop, we were getting double ups and triples, he came through with his trolling motor on high and pushed the fish off. I still hit those waypoints in that route for the next hour and could still see the disturbance on my graph. Never caught another fish off them in till that evening. Same way when we get tournament's here the crappie leave the shadow docks due to the waves constantly crashing on them, I'll go to my docks in 8-12' to help with the disturbance from the waves.
Not interested in doing the wake dance in my boat when those with no etiquette fly by...getting too old for that. Otherwise, I haven't noticed a huge difference/impact on fishing. Recently, felt badly for a bank fisherman whom nearly had all his gear washed away from an inconsiderate tournament fisherman on Wheeler. A disclaimer, it's not always tournament fisherman. There are plenty of weekend warriors with no etiquette either.
