Seems much discussion this year is about small fish. Even in Northern Alabama. Maybe a cycle we are going through. And, I think the extended heat and drought has confused the fish. My personal opinion about where I fish, is that I think the fish are about a month behind our usual transition. Meaning that I am starting to catch what I normally catch in October.
I think your home lake seems interesting since I have had the pleasure of reading your reports. It is interesting the bait shop guy provides a data point thinking a need to cull...certainly not scientific or an Alabama Dept of Conservation opinion. We have larger bodies of water on the TN impoundments where those that choose too can return the larger fish and take the smaller. Wish i coulda holographically transferred you the thanksgiving fish I was lucky to catch. Good luck stocking up for the fish fry. It will be a huge success. Keep the great reports coming.
