Good luck... your gonna need it
Not sure where I'm going in the morning. I'm looking for a few Crappie and I'm sure water clarity will make all the difference. I'll let you know what I find.
Good luck... your gonna need it
I fished Swoope Pond near Courtland this morning from 7:00 till around 12:00. Great, great day on the water. I found two areas of submerged brush one in 12 feet of water and the second in 15 feet with fish suspended above each. I’d make a pass or two spider rigging jigs about 6 foot deep, just above the brush until I spooked the fish. Then paddle to the next area doing the same until the fish spooked or shut down. Back and forth all morning catching one or two Crappie each pass.
I kept half a limit and returned many, many more to the water. All were caught on a 1/16oz, White, Marabou jig. Water was clear with visibility down three to four feet and a temperature of 60 degrees at daylight.

Thanks, I got lucky.
I expected to bolo, but had a really great day for both fishing and catching.
Thanks for the report
Every day is a holiday and every meal is a picnic.
Ditch,
With respect to the fish finder pic you posted: Is that fish on the brush pile or fish chasing a school of bait fish. I've always assumed the floating cloud looking object as bait fish???
The cloud with the fish are Crappie feeding on shad, the area in the lower right is the brush that the Crappie and shad were suspended above. I know the brush is there because I hung in it several times. The shad kept moving around, but always just above the brush. I saw many other clouds of fish during the trip, but most of the others were stripe or gills along with more shad, but without the Crappie. The two areas that held Crappie had brush close by.
This was just the pattern for that day, next time it will be completely different. I've been in Texas visiting my parents for a few days and just got back into Huntsville. I hope to get back on the fish later this week.
